Storytelling through a mix of visual and written content is incredibly powerful and creating content that engages readers immediately, on multiple levels, is something I am passionate about. Helping audiences see a person, home, brand or business in a new and interesting way is an exciting challenge of content creation in 2017.
There is always a fresh way to tell a story and finding a shiny new through line makes my heart beat fast. I enjoy collaborating with editors to develop both feature articles and series ideas, and love working with individuals and companies to create and deliver unique and compelling stories that audiences find engaging, visually gorgeous and memorable.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Julia (but eventually I'm Jules, to everyone), a Chicago-based writer, photographer, editor, and content strategist with over a decade of experience in the fields of publishing and editorial work. When I was growing up, my dad's motto was, 'surround yourself with the idea people--the people who are making things and doing things. Those are the people who will inspire you.' And he's right. Whether it's a photo essay of a small business owner or a featured article on a designer or architect, I get to tell the stories of today's makers and doers, innovators and creators. Those who think creatively and embrace authenticity. And for that I count myself lucky.
Writing
In addition to noted editorial work, I have extensive freelance experience and have worked on campaigns for such companies as L'Oreal, Biz3, Schwa, ICBA and NAR, as well as publications for Greenwood Press and ABC-CLIO. I am always pitching new ideas and am also happy to run with pre-conceived editorial concepts. I am available for freelance work throughout the U.S.

My photography has been featured in Domino, One King's Lane, My Domaine, Havenly Designs, Harper's Bazaar, Brit & Co, and across all platforms of Apartment Therapy Media, including The Kitchn, Apartment Therapy promotional use, and sponsored posts from Samsung, Dyson, and Airbnb.
Content
I have over 10 years of experience collaborating with both creative and editorial teams to develop content that is informative, engaging, and innovative. I worked closely with Janel Laban, Executive Editor of Apartment Therapy, to develop the top time-on-site series, Life Stories, and am currently working with Dawn Davis of Domino to create design destination articles for U.S. cities.
